Mentor Role

Time Commitment

  • Make at least a 1-year commitment

  • Facilitate weekly group sessions with mentees

  • Communicate with the mentee 1:1 biweekly

  • Attend an initial two-hour training session

  • Attend additional one-hour training sessions each quarter during each year of participation in the program

  • Attend optional mentor/mentee group events, mentor support groups, and program recognition events

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the Mentoring Program

  1. When does the mentoring program start and end? The program begins on May 15, 2023, and concludes on April 29, 2024.

  2. How much time do mentors need to dedicate per week? Mentors are required to meet once a week with their circle or group of mentees for 1.5 hours at one of our MAS center locations. You can find information about our centers on our website.

  3. How many hours should mentors dedicate to the program overall? Mentors must attend an initial 2-hour training session and commit to 3-3.5 hours per week for their circle of mentees. In addition, they must dedicate 1.5 hours monthly and 3-4 hours quarterly (every 3 months). These are the hours required for one circle of mentees.

  4. How many circles of mentees can a mentor oversee? Each mentor is responsible for one circle of mentees, which consists of six students. However, mentors may choose to oversee more than one circle. The number of circles a mentor conducts will determine their working hours.

  5. What is the rate of pay for mentors? Mentors are paid $20 per hour.
